Lab4 Production Tools:
This sound file has been made up from scratch rather than sourced from an existing lab4 librarys, using techniques that were regularly used during studio sessions over 15 years of Lab4 productions. In the early days the same techniques of creating long modulated files were used only recorded on to DAT and then sampled in sections onto various hardware samplers. Working this way adds an element of kaos and randomness to any studio session which is most important to keep any session fresh, exciting and inspiring.
This is intended as a sound file that can be returned to on a regular basis for effects, stabs, synths, kix etc. and you will be sure to find something new each time... It is NOT a set of quick fix construction kits... Get creative and inspired by taking a bit of Lab4 and turning in into your own work.
Chop Ups.
The idea with these files is that you can drop them into a track and the trim both ends of the file until you find something you like. Try using sections in short gaps as fills or chop smaller sections out to create stabs etc.
Working this way makes this set of sounds far more versatile and will help you create new and unique sounds and effects that other producers using the same set are unlikely to have come up with.
Many of these chop-ups are VERY stereo so to triple the number of files you have try just using the left or the right side....
Killersynths.
Sampled at c1,2,3 and 4. Try cutting a single note and using as an effect , drone or stab. Or make up a synth patch in your soft sampler and adjust the end point of the sound depending on whether you want to lose the fx or to add your own. Try looping within each sound to create longer sustain and reversing just the fx tail...

All freshly made using a combination of samples mixed with synthesised bassdrums.
Beats.
A selection of beats and Rhythmic Chop Ups. As with the 'Chop Ups' but can be used in a rhythmic way. Try using a full evolving loop or just a short section and loop it.intended to be used as rhythmic textures behind you kik. Though of course , use them how ever you can imagine!
