A final word from A+D+A+M.
I would like to say a big thanks to to everyone for the endless emails of support that I have received through www.lab4.com with regards to Insomniacz _ Magma on 2/10/2010.
I had personally decided that 2010 was to be the last year of the Hard Dance Scene for me and though it's a shame that it had to end on such a note , this is definatly not going to be my lasting memory of the last 16 years.
As well as 100's of unbelievable gigs around the globe, there were many less known highlights that were enjoyed by Lab4 over the years. Among them were a number 10 placement in Loud Magazines (Japan) Most Influential Live acts (2008), Best Live Hard Dance PA (2004, 2005 and 2006) in The Hard Dance Awards, No 2 in Mixmags Best Live Act category and a live performance on BBC Radio1's live sessions for the legendary John Peel Show at Maida Vale. Lab4 also produced soundtracks for numerous adverts for various companies including 2 worldwide Reebok adverts in1998 and 1999, Bacardi, Pepsi, Polaroid,Camel Cigarettes and a Classical Composition for the BBC. And a million selling Sega game.
At the end of 2006, though Lab4 had come to an end at that point, I was very excited to get out and DJ a lot more than Lab4 had allowed me the time to do. It was fun and refreshing to be able to play any tunes , written by anyone that I felt excited or inspired by.
As 2007 went on, I got the bug to get back in the studio and wrote my first Solo album 'Drink Me' which sold over 500 copies in the first week of pre-sales. This was beyond my expectations and left me wanting to put together a set to go out and play the new music live. The following 18 months took me round the world again from Ireland to Australia, Finland to Switzerland, Sweden to Japan as well as a main stage appearance at the massive Ground Zero festival in Holland and a sold out Headline set at Brixton Academy in 2008.
In early 2009 Lab4 was coaxed out to play once more at the Tidy hosted 'Homecoming' event at Magna which will remain one of my personal favourite gigs of my career.
In 2008 I had relocated to France and was enjoying a less busy touring schedule after 12 years with Lab4 , the last 8 years of which were constant global touring which is great fun but also quite intensely exhausting. It gave me the opportunity not only to spend more time writing music but also to enjoy having a slightly more normal existence and a social life, which was a new experience after 22 years of either touring or being buried in the artificial light of a studio control room 24/7.
During late 2009 and through 2010 I have been enjoying the freedom of a relaxed gigging schedule but also gradually finding my time becoming more and more filled with a couple of non-music business, business ventures that I have been involved in, as well as working on pre-production and recording of a debut album with my Rock/Alternative/Indie band - The Horizontal Instrument.
As my various other businesses and music projects have began take off and to require more focus, I decided the time had come to start to re-prioritise my energy and focus. In doing so I realised that I can comfortable say I have made my mark on the Dance scene, as part of Lab4 and as A+D+A+M and feel ready to move on.
I would like to say a big thanks to all the promoters and dj's that I have worked with and who have supported me over the past 16 years but more importantly to each and every Lab4 fan who joined us in an hour of partying at every Lab4 show since we kicked off in 1994 and to everyone who has followed and supported me as A+D+A+M since 2007.
It has been everything from mind blowing to soul destroying at times... for me though it has always been seeing the people on the dance floor, letting lose and forgetting themselves for just a while that has made every single second worth it.
www.lab4.com and www.adamlab4.com will remain online and open for business should anyone fancy completing their Lab4 CD collection.
As ever,
Love and Respect.
Adam Lab4.
